Brazilian Socratés dies
Socratés, former captain of the Brazilian national football team, died sunday after suffering septic shock due to an intestinal infection, the hospital said Albert Einstein. He was 57.
Socratés was in an intensive care unit since Saturday, hooked up to machines to keep him alive.
The brazilian team captain in 1982 and 1986 world had recognized his heavy drinking, even during his time as a player.
The hospital had reported that Socratés was in an induced coma and on life support.
After his retirement from the court, Socratés became a popular columnist and TV commentator.
