McLeish Not Interested

UPDATE: According to the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has ruled out the possibility of going after Dynamo Kiev striker Andriy
Shevchenko
. McLeish said,

“Shevchenko is not on my radar. Sammy has not told me he has made inquiries. I read it in the papers but I’ve not heard anything about Shevchenko … We are looking to strengthen the squad in
January and bring in three or four players who help us.”

, Birmingham are thought to be interested in Dynamo Kiev striker Andriy Shevchenko, but he is not a top priority. One of the
biggest reasons is because of his large wages.

Other targets mentioned are West Bromwich midfielder Graham Dorrans and QPR’s Wayne Routledge.

Kroenke Interested In Making An Offer For Arsenal?

According to ESPN Soccernet, shareholder Stan Kroenke might be consider
making a full offer for Arsenal. In order to do so, he has to own 29.99% of the club and he recently purchased more shares to increase his stake to 29.90%.

However the possibility of the team being bought by Kroenke has not affect boss Arsene Wenger. Wenger said,

“I care and worry about my plans … I see it like floors – they are above my head, and I look downwards to the team. I take care of what is under my responsibility – that means the team,
the way we play, the results and our next game … All the rest is a little bit above my head.”

Wigan Scouting Tamudo As They Search For A Striker

, Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is looking for a new striker and has been scouting Espanyol striker Raul Tamudo. Martinez said,

“We are now one striker short. The squad is one body less and it is important we address that situation … We are following different players in different leagues and different markets.”

“In the long-term, we need to make sure not just regarding the striking position we keep improving, but helping the players we already have here become strikers.”

Fran Merida Verbally Agrees To Sign New Deal With Arsenal

Fran Merida has agreed to sign a new deal with the club but has yet to sign. Boss Arsene Wenger said,

“He has an offer that he has agreed and he has not signed yet … Some clubs are doing work behind our back to destabilise him … We cannot stop them but it is a fact.”

, Arsenal starlet Fran Merida might possibly move on to Atletico Madrid after the season. Merida’s contract ends at the end of the season and he’s yet
to accept an offer made by Arsenal. His agent Joseba Diaz said,

“We only have an offer from Arsenal but Fran Merida has an illness, for want of a better word, and that is Atletico Madrid and you can’t do anything about that.”

“It started in 1996 when Atletico won the league and the Copa del Rey. He slept on red and white sheets, he followed Atletico whenever he had the chance … Even when he was with his
family he wore a gold ring with the Atletico badge stuck on it.”

Taarabt Wants To Leave

According to Sky Sports News, the Evening Gazette is reporting that Adel Taarabt wants to
leave Tottenham. Taarabt was quoted as saying,

“Tottenham would like me to sign a new deal with them but, frankly, I don’t fancy going back there now … I’ve got two-and-a-half years left with them, but I hope to leave soon.”
