The curse of 10

Just like all other seasons, the overhaul that was under way in the summer at the bernabeu was some thing so normal in yesteryears even in the eyes of the media and as a result, could not
be deemed as some sort of circus. Circusy only came into the picture in the wake of the transformation with the ambiguous targets Madrid set for them selves. As the saying goes, easier said than
done, Madrid easily followed the “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you may land among the stars” saying with the major one being “LA DECIMA” literally translated to the 10th. One
could be forced to think that Madrid sent bad vibes to a certain curse/voodoo that has eventually haunted the white house according to the state of affairs at Real Madrid. For some reason, Very
important defining fixtures for Madrid have decided to fall on dates with 10th as the day of the Month and for some reason, coach Manuel Pellegrini has decided to make ridiculous
decisions with the injury list not helping on such dates (could be destiny).

Firstly, on November 10th,2009 Real Madrid were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by lowly Alcorcon after failing to over come a huge deficit inflicted on them earlier on in the
season. Surprisingly, Dudek, M.Diarra, Gago, Nistelrooy and Raul start the game in which they were required to usher all their arsenal to score five or more goals. Putting aside Nistelrooy who
was on his way out of the bernabeu and Raul the flop of the match, Madrid rarely plays any good soccer with either M.Diarra or Gago in the middle of the pitch and worse with Dudek in goal.
Marcelo and Van der vaart (eventual goal scorer) come on but it was too late.

Secondly, the most decorated European team falls out of the champions league on March 10th,2010 at the hands of out of form Lyon in the second round for the sixth consecutive
time. Again, Kaka is mysteriously substituted for Raul and alas, here comes M.Diarra again for Arbeloa! Till this day, I wonder what tactics the coach was applying in making these master stroke
tactical changes like he had done in the weekend fixture against Sevilla. Anyways, Alonso and Marcelo were missing.

Last but not least, on April 10th, 2010 Barcelona decides to outsmart Real Madrid on its own turf. Any way, just like all the other eliminations have been. This could prove to
be costly if Real eventually lose the trophy as this could serve as a turning point. Yeah, Kaka the big game player was actually missing but not Gago and Benz again (where is LASS)!
In the first, they did win but got eliminated. In the second, Madrid drew but eventually that was the end of the road but, this time round, they did eventually lose (W D L).
Notice how Higuain has been lacking in all these games.

Lastly, did it really require Messi (Barca’s shirt 10) to inflict this pain on the Madridistas? Again, describe why Lass (Madrid’s shirt 10) is having this poor run and no longer the
midfield maestro he was last season. Luckily enough, Madrid has no fixtures on this date with the closet being the Athletic Bilbao game on 9th May 2010
