The FA – who are they?

The big news is that the FA have rejected Arsenal’s appeal against Vermaelen’s red card. Those who assumed this would be the case were of course proved right. Those of us who watched the action
over and over again at normal speed and slo-mo actually believed the card would be rescinded – and we were wrong.

Also wrong were those people who thought the FA would not only reject the appeal but also add another game’s ban on. The FA are idiots, but maybe they realised it would not rest if they did
that.

Ultimately the man responsible for the debacle that is the FA

Lord Triesman (FA Chairman, above) regretted the resignation of their Chief Exec. Apparently he went because he was fed up trying to drive through changes and constantly being thwarted.

Funnily enough Brian Barwick (the previous Chief Exec) was sacked for complaining about the same things.

And yet….

Nothing was done about Stevie G, doing a blatant forearm smash on Portsmouth’s Michael Brown. It was captured clear as you like on video, nothing was done about it in the game (and under the
FA’s rules that would allow them do review it) – yet they did nothing.

Double Standards

They continue to apply their double standards to their traditional game. But that traditional game is going to die horribly if they don’t stop behaving like an old boys club.

Worth reading this article about why the FA is going to kill English football.

I don’t want to dwell on it too much, but someone should really charge the FA with bringing football into disrepute.

A Chance Tonight

There’s a chance tonight that Portsmouth could do us a favour and beat Chelsea.Okay, it might not be a big chance, but you have to hope. I’ll be over on LadyArse’s blog in the live blog during the game (it’s just like a funny chatroom during the match), cheering Portsmouth on.
Here’s hoping for a Kanu hat-trick, now that he’s found his scoring boots again.

And here’s the great old man himself

Remember those days?

Anyway, it’s a short blog today because there’s not much news about and I’m a bit busy, but more tomorrow I’m sure.

P.S. I’m ignoring the Fabregas to Inter rumours which are so laughable they’re not even worth thinking about.
