A few days ago Vicente Del Bosque gave the list of summoned for the friendly one that Spain will play this Wednesday in Paris. Logically, to only a few months of the beginning of the World cup, the twenty-three summoned ones have (almost) all the ballot paper to represent to our country in South Africa. Three summoned doormen are Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina and Diego López but the seleccionador spoke about two guardamallas more with those that it counts in the second list: Andrés Palop and Víctor Valdés. So, taking up the gauntlet of my partner Carlos Tur, I want to enter the debate on the third doorman.

For that this writes Valdés would have to be yes or yes in the World cup, although I understand that his absence in the call is given by the concomitance of a series of reasons that, contemplated jointly, make the decision understandable of Of The Forest. Nevertheless, next I will discuss the judgment of the ‘Bigotón’ attending on certain points with which I do not agree.
Casillas is the indisputable holder of the Selection, although in last year and a half it has not been at the level that had us used; it is not that it is badly, not much less: even being one-handed, Iker would keep on being better that 90 % of doormen that I know. What it spends is that some time ago that we do not see realizing a miracle after other, although it is necessary to bear in mind that the defensive improvement of Madrid (with Juande last year and now with Pellegrini) also it produces that ‘The Saint’ does not have to go down the skies so often. Anyway, his participation is indisputable, so he is already not only the best doorman that I have seen in my life (much better that Sar, Buffon or Kahn Go der), but also he is the captain of the best Spanish generation.

On the contrary, the Queen’s condition as the second unquestionable doorman seems been wrong to me. I believe that it is a little overvalued and, although it is a porterazo like the glass of a pine, I think that there is a series of partners who discuss this privilege (of course: of second or of third, it would be between my 23 men). And the fact is that there is not doubt that at present Spain enjoys the best generation of goalkeepers that it has never had. It is necessary to add the already said ones to the people as Iraizoz, Aranzubía or César (28, 30 and 38 years, respectively), the three in the best moment of his career, or the jovencísimos and mattress-makers Asenjo and Of Gea (20 and 21), which augur that the future after Casillas is insured.

And to that it is what I go: at the time of choosing the third doorman there are two considerations to be born in mind over any other one: the age and the weight in the wardrobe. The third doorman has to be very young or very veteran. You can take a beardless lad so that he lives through the tournament from within and that I breathed the coexistence in the highest pressure state; or you can take an experienced guy and with ancestry between his partners. Diego López does not fulfill any of two conditions.

If the seleccionador decides to choose for the first one, it should go to Of Gea or Asenjo; the doorman of the Villarreal will be 29 years in 2010 and the holder of The Red one will never become because to Casillas he has left, at least, another World cup. After him, the following doorman will be one of two doormen of the Atleti (or someone of his age). If on the other hand he chooses for the seniority, the elected one should be Palop, who was already in the Euroglass and it meets his partners. And he would add two more reasons: the detail that it had honoring Arconada putting itself his T-shirt to receive the champion’s medal of Europe, gives an idea of the very conscious thing that belongs to that was occupying a privileged place and honors it like person and professional; without forgetting that Jesus Navas will be in the appointment mundialista and it would come to him from pearls to have a godfather who takes care of it so that it could tie it up in South Africa like all we want.

For it I do not believe that López is the man adapted to go of third doorman: it has the same age as Casillas and one year more that He Reigns and his roll in the Selection is not between the most important, not much less, so one is more of the group governed by others two doormen, Puyol and Xavi. Casilas is indisputable and the Queen’s ancestry between his partners is very important (not only he is the quizmaster and sexy official, also he is a serious, professional man much respected by his companions), but seeing that Of The Forest has called Diego López, it seems that he does not advocate a third doorman with a view to the future or a veteran. So, in such a case, the elected one should be Víctor Valdés.

The Barca doorman has developed a capacity of superlative concentration, turning it into a doorman especially well in the moments of big requirements. It is used to spending half idle party and to facing a problem in cold and has played more important meetings than Diego López. Also, the central two that are outlined as holders are those of his team, Puyol and Piqué, and the game of the Selection drinks from the blaugrana style, reasons that add points to him to his candidacy. Neither he would suppose any imbalance in the wardrobe: Puyol, Xavi, Piqué, Iniesta, Busquets and up to Queen they would wrap up him.

For all this I believe that, without choosing for a goalkeeper especially young or veteran, but choosing it for his aptitude to stop balls and to attend on requirements merely futbolísitcas, the third Spanish doorman of the Selection would have to be Víctor Valdés. Now, without having been selected till now (only one call for a friendly one against Uruguay in 2005, without going so far as to make debut), up to his defenders we do not count with that trip to South Africa to dispute the World 2010.
