The bad luck of Alexander Frei
Of between many memories that I preserve of the memorable Euroglass of 2008 (what nostalgia and what desire from which the World cup comes already), comes to the memory the moment led by Alexander Frei, the Swiss forward of the Basel. It was in the inaugural party between Switzerland and the Czech Republic, defined then by a friend of mine like “a party between Oliver and Benji: Switzerland played with Frei and ten more and Czech Republic with Cech and ten more”.
In effect, the forward Frei was seeming to be the most talented player of theirs, until he got injured and his images going out of the field crying (about the minute 2:40 of the video that the post heads) were of the most emotive and saddest of the Euroglass.
Frei’s good one could dispute not even one more party in that competition and now his presence is in danger also for the World cup of South Africa, since the forward broke the arm last Saturday, in the meeting of League that was facing the Aarau.
As he has announced his club, the battering-ram will be between eight and ten weeks of fall, therefore it is very probable that it does not dispute parties again in what it stays of league (the Swiss competition finishes in May), therefore it will come very just for the World cup.
With the weight that it still has in the Swiss team – not in vain he is the maximum scorer of all the times of his selection with 40 goals in 73 parties – the seleccionador Ottmar Hitzfeld will be very dependent on his recovery, but insurance that is already contemplating alternatives.
It is necessary to remember that Switzerland will be one of the rivals of Spain in the next appointment mundialista.
