Iker Casillas, one of few products of the quarry of Real Madrid that triumphs in the first team, was nominated a better doorman of the year 2009 by the International Federation of History and Statistics of the Soccer (IFFHS).

Casillas

Although I do not agree much with the classifications of this organization, since it is a pure statistics and does not bear in mind the value of a player inside the team, if it is of rigor to admit that Iker Casillas, presently, finds very few rivals to his height under the sticks.

Behind the years of the young promise stayed. Behind there stayed that fateful period in which César relegated him to the stool. The same period, Iker Casillas had to replace him in the final of Champions League before Bayer Leverkusen, as if work of the destination was, and demonstrated of what is capable. That was the year 2002.

They have happened eight years since then, and Iker Casillas has been improving every year a little more. The parties in which he has been a protagonist saving Real Madrid are countless. And, right now, Iker Casillas counts only with 28 springs behind him, therefore he has left sane for moment.

Behind him there stayed names as Buffon, who repeats in the second position (last year also gained Casillas), and, in the third place, Julius Caesar, Brazilian doorman of the Inter of Milan. But more merit has Edwin Van der Sar, who at his 39 years defends like nobody the goal of the Manchester United. When I was a child and was playing the sheets, They Go der Sar was already one of the best doormen of the world. And there it continues …
